What to Get Done in the Second Trimester

Yay, you’ve made it to the second trimester! You’re 1/3 of the way there and hopefully you are starting to see some of those early pesky pregnancy symptoms start to fade and will be getting some more energy back in the upcoming weeks!

This is the time when most mamas, myself included, feel their absolute best in pregnancy. You have your energy back, your baby bump is still relatively compact (enjoy that movement!), and you are ready to tackle some things! It’s go time Mama!

Second Trimester Checklist…

  • Start putting together nursery
  • Washing & organizing baby clothes (premie-6 months)
  • Send out Baby Announcements with attached registry
  • Celebrate with a Baby Shower
  • Complete any necessary house projects (way easier to do BEFORE baby gets here!)
  • Stock up on household staples (dish soap, laundry detergent, cleaning supplies, etc)
  • Write down your ideal birth plan
  • Attend birthing and breastfeeding classes
  • Revist the lists you made in first trimester, adjust as necessary
  • Attend a hospital visit & preregister for birth
  • Look into childcare options and wait lists for when baby arrives
  • Freeze favorite meals ahead of time
  • Go on a baby-moon with your partner!

Hopefully this list helps you get a head start on preparing for baby; while making the most of your second trimester. I am definitely a type-A personality and love getting things done ahead of time. So making lists and checking those boxes is what I am all about. Preparing early on allows me to slow down and enjoy things, instead of being overwhelmed by all of the things I NEED to do!

If you can think of other things you’d like to get done before baby, now is a great time. Keep that list coming and you’re future self will absolutely thank you for getting things done early!

However, if this seems overwhelming to you, don’t fret! You can always ask your partner, family, or friends to lend a hand. It’s a great way to connect while staying on top of your baby to-do list. And, I’ve found most people love being asked to help with these things. So brush off any mom guilt you may be feeling and have some friends over to help get things ready together!
